Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Gill ensured that India won the match without losing a wicket. Danish Kaneria says Rahul may bat higher up the order in preparation for Asia Cup.
KL Rahul made his comeback from an injury that kept him out of action for a while in India’s opening ODI against Zimbabwe. Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill ensured that India won the match without losing a wicket, therefore Rahul, who is leading the squad in the three-match series, did not get a chance to prove himself with the bat.
Rahul hadn’t played for India since February, but he made his return in Harare for the first ODI. According to former Pakistan bowler Danish Kaneria, Rahul is considering batting higher up the order in preparation for the next Asia Cup.
We may see KL Rahul bat higher in the order in the upcoming games; the No. 3 place is open. To better understand his timing and form heading into the Asia Cup, Kaneria promised viewers of his YouTube channel that they would gain this information. Rahul has batted down the order in ODIs, while being an opener in Tests and T20Is.
Pace bowler Deepak Chahar joined Rahul in returning from an injury absence for the opening ODI. India won by dismissing Zimbabwe with 189 runs after Chahar captured 3 wickets.
Deepak Chahar’s return was a spectacular success. Despite returning from an extended absence, he contributed greatly to his team’s success. He had lost weight and appeared fit enough to bowl at a respectable clip. He was able to swing freely and strike the ball where he wanted to. He also made excellent use of the slowing ball. “The Zimbabwean hitters had no replies,” Kaneria added.
